It has been a while since I have updated this side of the website, so this is long overdue. The year is only three months old, and I have already attended three shows!
The MSU Comics Forum was an awesome show put together by Ryan Claytor and Jay Jacot. I got to hang out with many cool artists including Guy Davis and Jay Fosgitt (to name just a few). I also managed to avoid Denver Brubaker all day, for which I think we deserve some type of trophy considering the size of the gallery the artist alley was displayed in. I had a great time doing the panel discussion with keynote speaker Nate Powell and amazing artist Jeremy Bastian. I met a ton of great people, and I am very excited for next year’s forum.
Kids Read Comics: Extravaganza is not only a fun word to spell, but it was the first time a KRC was attempted at the Ann Arbor Art Center. This show promotes the joy and excitement of reading comics to kids of all ages. Featured at this event were artists Denver Brubaker (I could only avoid him so many times) Chad Sell, Matt Feazell, Jannie Ho and Katie Cook just to name a few. I did a Messed Up Fairy Tales workshop and drew a bunch of little free sketches for the kiddes. The main KRC is happening on June 18-19 in Chelsea, MI. Do not miss this event. It is free to the public, and features a bunch of very talented artists.

S.P.A.C.E. is always a inspiring show to attend, mainly because it is choc-full of awesome artists. Bob Corby does an amazing job of keeping his guests happy, and this show did not disappoint. I had the distinct pleasure of sitting next to my friend Morgan Eagleton, who had a killer display of crazy little creatures. I also revealed version 1.0 of the “Desmond tower”. My display is not fully realized yet, but it is getting there.

I also had the opportunity to be part of the The Webcomics Review! panel which also featured webcomics creators Alex Heberling, Chad Sell, Denver Brubaker (we’ve agreed to become eachother’s stalkers), Mike Carroll, and Richard Errington. We discussed our thoughts on the current climate of webcomics, new technologies, and all the hard-learned lessons we’ve experienced along the way. Oh, and there was an awkward moment about someone touching Richard… but let’s not dwell on that. You can view the entire panel in this video.

Finally the best part of SPACE was the fact that it was being held in the same hotel as the OHIO BEEF EXPO! Oh yes, if Stan Lee were here, you’d know what he would say… NUFF’ SAID!
