One, I get to focus on another project that I started called Camp Pencil Point. I am working with some really cool comic artists on this project and I am very excited about it.

Two, I have a chance to go in and tighten up the conclusion of Desmond’s Comic. This web comic features a particular segment of Desmond’s life. It was planned to be a six year story arc told in two parts. Where the first part flowed along  just as planned, this second half is stumbling along. (Just a reminder that you can read the entire first half in book format at the store.) With the comic’s fourth anniversary coming in August, I realize that I am running out of time to start pulling together loose ends. To tell you the truth, the conclusion to Desmond’s Comic has been completely rewritten. So now comes the time to start restructuring and reorganizing to make sure things will fit together properly. The restructured ending also leaves me with an opening to extend the story into shorter chapters afterwards. So this break is a necessity.

Thanks to everyone for sticking around. It has been a rough year thus far. Lately, not only has there ben a ton of pressure with the “day” job and looming deadlines of a new project I am working on, but my wife has been in and out of the hospital since early March. Her health is much more stable now, but all of the above can lead to a very exhausting life. So hopefully the worst is over, and we can continue with Desmond and Kaz’s story.

This is a conceptual sketch of Desmond and Devil Bunny in full costume for their new game. I drew this last year when developing this new look for the gang. Once Kaz works his situation out, you’ll see a little more of Desmond with big mutton chops. (Devil Bunny is still not planning on going in gracefully.)

Here is a little “DVD extra” trivia, which is usually reserved for the Big Books ((available now at Desmond’s Store)). Trid Energy Drink was one of the first concepts I had for Desmond. I actually developed the Trid story arc way before the notion of SNAP GRABBEM had come into the continuity. Besides me, there are only three other people that know where Trid Energy Drink is going to lead Desmond. I am pretty excited to finally get to this portion of the story.

Over the past few weeks, I have tried to clearly show the two very different places that Kaz and Desmond are in. If you haven’t noticed, I have alternated every week between Desmond and Kaz. Kaz’s situation keeps getting worse and worse, where Desmond seems to be getting better.

Here is a little more “DVD extra” trivia for you… over the past six weeks, the backgrounds and shadows in Kaz’s scenes are a lot darker than that in Desmond’s scenes. In fact, they’re exact opposites. The gray in the backgrounds in Kaz’s comics are even darker than I usually go without spotting a complete black. The backgrounds in Desmond’s scenes are completely light and almost shadow free. The focus will return to Kaz for the next few weeks. After all of this time, I think it is time for him to finally meet his hero. So things should be improving, right? I mean, how much more can we put this poor guy through?

It is the greatest time of year as convention season kicks off for 2013. In less than two weeks, Desmond and I will be appearing at the MSU Comics Forum, which is always a great show.

This past Saturday was the Great Lakes Comic Expo, and I had a great time! It was amazing to meet and connect with so many cool people. Thanks to everyone who stopped by! I hope to see you again very soon!
