I will be posting up a few things from the Chicago Comic Con over the course of the next few weeks. As I mentioned before on Desmond’s Facebook group, I had a great time there and met a ton of cool people.

This was a commission sketch that I did for someone. He wanted the Creature from the Black Lagoon, which was a little intimidating at first, but turned out to be a fun project.

I was working on this one during the Chicago Comic Con, but I made a last minute change to the punchline. I hope it still reads the way it should. Let me know what you think.

Great fun at Chicago Comic Con, by the way! It was an extreme pleasure to meet everyone I did over the past four days. I’ll be busy with only three weeks before SPX! I hope to see everyone in Bethesda!

It is good to be back home! A little more on Desmond’s hometown in the next few weeks. Hmmm, I wonder if Kaz has found out anything else back on the West Coast.

Never test the temper of a wolverine. I guess this is a cute and cuddly version of “berserker rage”.

A little break in our regular continuity to celebrate an anniversary! Can you believe it? We made it up to one full year of Desmond comics! (I know if you go back in the archives, the dates don’t appear to match up, but this site was launched the first Tuesday of August last year.)

So anyway, thanks for stopping by and sharing some laughs with Desmond and I. I promise you next year will be filled with more mayhem and strangeness I can manage to pack into a week!

On a “illustrator’s side note”, I debated whether or not to have the panel crop Desmond’s hands. If I cropped them, it would have helped me obtain the illusion of depth. However, by not cropping them, I think I reinforced the fury within Desmond, which I thought was more important than aiding the visual. I thought that Jerry’s comment would have sold the final frame.

Another “illustrator’s side note”, I am really happy with Desmond’s expression. Thankfully I decided to push it a little further. I will be uploading the conceptual sketches onto FB later this week. The initial design for Desmond was angry, but not as furious as this final version. A little lesson for you kiddies, planning ahead gives you the opportunity to make important changes!

What the heck is this? DVD commentary? I better save this info for a book or something!
